Dear Bamboo in the Wind Sangha Member,
As a long time Zen student, I have decided to take Buddha’s vows to save all beings. To
formalize my intention, I have sewn the Okesa over the past year. It is now completed!
In preparation for my Ordination scheduled December 8, 2002, at Udumbara Sangha, I am planning a 7
Day Practice Period starting November 30 through December 6. Rohatsu retreat follows December 7-8. You are invited to the Home Leaving Ceremony (Priest
Ordination) planned December 8 at 2:00 pm and the Reception that follows.
Diane Martin, Roshi, will perform the ceremony. The location of Udumbara
Sangha is 501 Sherman, Evanston, IL 60202. Phone number is 847.475.3264.
During the 7 Day
Practice Period, I have invited local Udumbara Sangha members to join me in
meditation for any period, and/or for study. For Bamboo in the Wind Sangha
members who want to support me remotely during this period, send me a
teaching to the address above before November 27 and it will be included in
my studies.
If you have any questions or want to contact me electronically, my email is val@bamboointhewind.org.
Bowing deeply to all beings,
Val Szymanski
